In 2005 Milligan was appointed partner to the Manchester Airport Group to work with their in - house team to manage and drive non-aeronautical revenues at Manchester Airport.
Retailing is typically not the core business of airports, yet represents an increasingly significant part of airport revenues, and many traditional retail models don't apply.
We recognised that for airport retailing and catering to work, truly successfully, time is key. For passengers to shop they must be in a relaxed state of mind.
Following considerable research into the needs and mindsets of the customer, we are working with the Manchester Airport team to carry out a £35 million redevelopment of Terminal 1 to take customers straight through check-in and an updated and improved security area into a new welcoming, innovative and comfortable airside space. This is scheduled for completion Spring 2009.
Work has started on proposals for Terminal 2 and Terminal 3, and is due to start in Terminal 2 this Summer.
Today Milligan is responsible for managing the retail environment which handles commercial revenues of over £100 million a year.
We are committed to providing an even more enjoyable and fulfilling experience to meet these needs and to differentiate Manchester airport from other airport retail businesses around the world.
