The 150,000 sq ft Metquarter retail development in Liverpool city centre opened in March 2006. Created by Milligan, the retail development and asset management specialist, the Metquarter has brought new stores to Liverpool including Flannels, A/X Armani Exchange, BOSS Hugo Boss and M.A.C.
Investment of the Year AwardOn 29th June, the Milligan team were delighted to receive the award for ‘Investment of the Year’ for Metquarter at the Daily Post Regional Business Awards, the most prestigious business awards in the North West. Metquarter won the award for its contribution to changing the profile of the city centre, brining new retail brands to Liverpool and attracting shoppers to the city to an attractive, creative environment.
Tenant and Customer ResponsesWinning the award has been just one show of the enthusiasm that Metquarter has been received with. Detailed research of customers, shopping habits and tenant sales continue to confirm Metquarter’s success in attracting shoppers from and to Liverpool.
Footfall figures have shown that nearly 1 million shoppers have visited the centre and average spend per visitor has almost trebled since the opening. 95% of shoppers recently surveyed by Metquarter say that they like the centre and 85% of these shoppers anticipate shopping at Metquarter at least once a month.
Trade for many tenants has greatly exceeded their original targets. Kurt Geiger, for example, has traded 20% above expectations.
New Tenants at Metquarter
The impact of Metquarter has meant continued interest from high-profile retail brands. Confirmed new tenants for Metquarter are: Diesel, Guess and Kate Kuba, all due to open Autumn 2006. In addition, Metquarter is currently in discussions with: Miss Sixty, Energie, Replay, LK Bennett, Samsonite, Fossil and Tommy Hilfiger.
New Store Opening DatesPeter Werth Toni & Guy Opticians, Firetrap, Paperchase and Parchment are all due to open at Metquarter during summer 2006, bringing the total number of retailers trading to 30.
